This app is a tool designed to streamline a ballet dancer's experience finding their perfect pointe shoe fit using AI and the camera on the user's phone.
As a ballet dancer, I became frustrated with the process of traveling to the nearest dance store to have a fitting and buy new pointe shoes. Now, using my creative problem solving skills, I set out to make the process easier for dancers by allowing them to receive shoe suggestions without traveling far distances.
The Problem Statement
Ballet dancers are required to travel relatively long distances (1-3 hours by car) to be able to be fitted for pointe shoes, which are shoes that are designed to last for only 14-16 hours of use. This is an often inconvenient task for these dancers, especially those who have not found “their shoe”, making it difficult for them to dance in the right shoes and avoid injury.
